Vent-A-Hood 36-Inch 250 CFM Contemporary Wall Mount Range Hood — Stainless Steel — CWEH6-K36
|
The Vent-A-Hood CWEH6-K36 is a 36-inch wall-mounted range hood from the Premium Power Lung V-Line Contemporary Series — a compact, split-layered canopy design suited to light to moderate residential cooking. The CWEH6-K uses the Power Lung K Series single blower to deliver 250 CFM of ventilation — equivalent to 375 CFM from a conventional system — at a sound rating of 7.4 Sones at high speed. Purpose-built for standard kitchen setups where a compact, contemporary profile and a straightforward wall mount installation matter more than maximum CFM output. Available in stainless steel (this listing) or limited painted colors: biscuit, black, gunsmoke, and white. Wall mount duct cover sold separately. Mounting height: 24 inches above the cooking surface. Suitable for covered outdoor use with a GFCI-protected circuit. Made in the USA since 1933. |

About the Split-Layered Design — Compact Contemporary Wall Mount Profile
The CWEH6-K features the same compact split-layered canopy design shared with Vent-A-Hood's contemporary range hood family — a two-tier horizontal canopy that creates a stepped, banded silhouette that reads as a deliberate design element rather than a utilitarian appliance. Compact in scale and clean in line, the split-layer profile is particularly well suited to standard-height kitchens and contemporary cabinet layouts where a lower-profile hood is preferred over a tall, high-volume canopy.
Split-Layered Profile
Two-Tier Horizontal Banding
The two-tier canopy creates a horizontal band around the perimeter — a clean, contemporary visual break that differentiates this hood from standard single-body canopies. The compact scale keeps the hood proportional to standard kitchen configurations without dominating the wall space above the range.
LED Lighting with Dual Dimming
Task Light & Ambient Setting
Integrated LED lights illuminate the cooking surface below with a dual-switch dimming system — switch between full task brightness for active cooking and a lower ambient setting for everyday use when the range isn't in use.
Limited Finish Range
Stainless Steel or Painted Only
Available in stainless steel (this listing) or popular painted colors: biscuit, black, gunsmoke, and white. Brass, copper, and hammered metal finishes are not available on this model.
Power Lung K Series — What to Know About Performance & Sound
The CWEH6-K uses the Power Lung K Series blower — a different blower platform than Vent-A-Hood's Magic Lung® system used in the Premier and Designer Series hoods. Here's what that means in practice:
250 CFM Output
375 CFM Equivalent — Light to Moderate Cooking
At 250 CFM actual (375 CFM conventional equivalent), the CWEH6-K is sized for everyday household cooking — stovetop meals, moderate heat, standard four-burner ranges under 50,000 BTU total. It is not intended for high-BTU dual-fuel ranges, frequent wok cooking, or heavy frying — those applications call for a higher-CFM Magic Lung® Premier or EPITH18 series hood. For standard residential cooking, 250 CFM is typically adequate and code-compliant in most jurisdictions.
7.4 Sones at High Speed
Louder Than Magic Lung® — Honest Performance Disclosure
At 7.4 Sones on high, the CWEH6-K is noticeably louder than Vent-A-Hood's Magic Lung® Premier Series hoods, which achieve 6.3 Sones at nearly four times the CFM output. If whisper-quiet operation is a priority, step up to a Magic Lung® Premier Series model. The CWEH6-K is the right choice when a compact wall mount profile, accessible price point, and adequate ventilation for light cooking take priority over noise performance.
Ducted Wall Mount
Top Vent or Back Vent — Flexible Duct Routing
The CWEH6-K is a fully ducted wall mount hood — air is exhausted to the exterior, not recirculated. Duct can exit through the top of the hood (through a cabinet or ceiling above) or through the back of the hood directly through the wall behind the range. A dedicated back venting guide is available for back vent installations. See the PDF links below to download the back venting guide.
What's Included — and What You'll Need to Complete the Installation
Included in the Box
Complete Wall Mount Canopy Package
Split-layered contemporary stainless steel canopy, Power Lung K Series blower, LED lighting with dual-switch dimming, and wall mounting hardware.
Sold Separately — Required
Wall Mount Duct Cover (Not Included)
A matching wall mount duct cover is required to conceal the duct run from the top of the hood to the ceiling. Contact us to specify the correct duct cover for your ceiling height before ordering.
Installer / Contractor Responsibility
Ductwork & Electrical — Not Included
Wall mount installation requires ductwork routed through the wall or up through a cabinet to the exterior, and a dedicated 115V circuit at the wall behind the hood location. Both must be completed by a licensed contractor before installation. For back vent configurations, duct exits through the wall directly behind the range — see the back venting guide PDF for specifications.
Key Features & Owner Benefits:
- Power Lung K Series Single Blower — 250 CFM: A single Power Lung K Series blower delivers 250 CFM of airflow — equivalent to 375 CFM from a conventional system. Designed for light to moderate residential cooking on standard ranges up to approximately 50,000 BTU total. Not intended for high-BTU professional or commercial-type cooking equipment — for those applications, see Vent-A-Hood's Premier Magic Lung® Series.
- Compact Split-Layered Contemporary Design: The two-tier canopy creates a horizontal banded profile that reads as intentional contemporary design rather than a box on the wall. Proportioned for standard kitchen ceiling heights and designed to complement flat-panel cabinetry and contemporary interior aesthetics.
- Top Vent or Back Vent Capable: Duct can exit through the top of the hood (routing up through a cabinet to the exterior or attic) or through the back of the hood directly through the wall behind the range. A dedicated back venting guide is available for download — see the PDF links below. Confirm your duct routing with your installer before installation day.
- LED Lighting with Dual-Switch Dimming: Integrated LED lights illuminate the cooking surface with a dual-switch dimming system — full brightness for active cooking, lower ambient setting for everyday use.
- Mounting Height — 24 Inches Above Cooking Surface: Vent-A-Hood recommends installing the CWEH6-K36 with the bottom of the canopy 24 inches above the cooking surface — closer than the 30-inch mounting height used on larger island and Premier Series hoods. Verify local code requirements before finalizing installation height.
- Outdoor Approved — GFCI Required: Suitable for covered outdoor applications (covered patio, outdoor kitchen) when installed in a GFCI-protected branch circuit.
- Limited Finish Availability: Available in stainless steel and painted colors only — biscuit, black, gunsmoke, and white. Brass, copper, and custom paint are not available on this model.
Wall Mount Hood Installation — What to Know Before You Buy
01
Wall Blocking or Stud Location
Confirm stud locations or install blocking in the wall behind the range before the hood arrives. The hood mounts to the wall — not to cabinets — and requires adequate structural support at the mounting point.
02
Duct Routing — Top or Back
Decide and plan your duct route before installation day. Top vent routes up through a cabinet or soffit to the exterior or attic. Back vent exits directly through the wall behind the range — download the back venting guide PDF (linked below) for back vent specifications and requirements.
03
Dedicated Electrical Circuit
A 115V dedicated circuit at the wall behind or above the hood location must be completed by a licensed electrician before installation.
04
Wall Mount Duct Cover — Order Separately
A matching wall mount duct cover conceals the duct run from the top of the hood to the ceiling. Contact us to confirm the correct size for your ceiling height and configuration before ordering.
05
Mounting Height — 24 Inches
Mount the bottom of the canopy 24 inches above the cooking surface — confirm against local code requirements before finalizing installation height.
