The ARS duct cover provides a finished appearance between the top of the hood and the ceiling — it is cosmetic only and does not carry air to the exterior. Available in standard sizes for 9' and 10' ceiling heights. Contact us to confirm the right cover for your ceiling height before ordering.

- 4-Phase Proprietary Filtration: Vent-A-Hood's ARS system processes kitchen air through four stages — grease extraction, particulate capture, odor absorption, and final return filtration — before returning air to the kitchen. The 4-phase process is more comprehensive than single-stage charcoal filter systems found in standard ductless range hoods, making the ISDAH18-K suitable for cooking environments where air quality matters.
- Euroline Pro Canopy with Emerald Lip Styling: The ISDAH18-K uses the same Euroline Pro linear canopy form as the ducted ISDH18 series, with the addition of Emerald lip styling — a refined, defined front edge that adds visual presence to the hood when viewed from below. The result is a hood that looks identical to a premium ducted installation from the outside, with no visible indication that it is a recirculating system.
- Island Ceiling Mount — 42-Inch Canopy: Ceiling-suspended island mount — no wall attachment required. The 42-inch canopy provides coverage over a 42-inch cooktop or island cooking surface below. Requires ceiling structural support at the island location and a dedicated 115V electrical circuit before installation.
- Outdoor Approved — GFCI Required: All Vent-A-Hood products are UL listed for damp location use. The ISDAH18-K42 is approved for covered outdoor patio installation when connected to a GFCI-protected circuit.
- Finish Availability — Stainless Steel and Painted Only: The ARS series is available in stainless steel (this listing) and popular standard or custom paint colors only. Real brass, real copper, and hammered copper finishes are not available on the ISDAH18-K.
- Mounting Height — 30 Inches Above Cooking Surface: Vent-A-Hood recommends mounting the bottom of the canopy 30 inches above the cooking surface. Verify local clearance requirements before finalizing the installation height.
Installation Overview — Simpler Than a Ducted System, But Still Requires Planning

Ceiling Structural Support
Island hoods hang from ceiling joists or blocking. Confirm the ceiling structure can support the hood weight above the island location. No duct penetration required — the ceiling only needs to support the hanging hardware.

No Duct Penetration Needed
Unlike ducted island hoods, the ISDAH18-K does not require a ceiling penetration or duct run. The ARS duct cover is cosmetic — it connects the top of the hood to the ceiling for appearance only, with no air moving through it.

Dedicated Electrical Circuit
A 115V dedicated circuit at the ceiling above the island is still required and must be completed by a licensed electrician before installation.

ARS Filter Assembly — Order With the Hood
The ARS filter assembly must be ordered separately and installed before the hood can be used. It is a consumable that will require periodic replacement. Contact us to add the correct filter assembly to your order before it ships.

ARS Duct Cover — 9' or 10' Standard Sizes
