Installer / Contractor Responsibility
Ductwork & Electrical — Not Included
Island installation requires ceiling-routed ductwork and a dedicated 115V circuit completed by a licensed contractor prior to installation. At 1,100 CFM, ensure your duct sizing and length are spec'd for high-volume airflow — undersized ductwork will reduce performance and increase noise. Outdoor patio installations require a GFCI-protected circuit. Ceiling height range: 7'–10'.

- Designed for Commercial-Type Cooking Equipment: The EPITH18 is expressly designed to cover light residential and commercial-type cooking equipment — high-BTU ranges, professional dual-fuel appliances, and large outdoor grills — where standard residential hoods at 400–600 CFM are undersized for the actual cooking output. At 1,100 CFM effective, this series is sized for serious cooking volumes.
- SensaSource® Automatic Speed Control: The integrated heat sensor automatically returns the blower to high speed when rising heat is detected from the cooking surface — even if the cook has manually set it to low for lighter cooking. Fire safety and grease capture are maintained automatically throughout the entire cook session.
- LED Task Lighting — All Four Corners: Four LED lights are positioned in each corner of the island canopy for uniform, shadow-free coverage of the cooking surface below. 2-level dimming allows adjustment between full task brightness and lower ambient illumination.
- Top or Back Vent Capable: Flexible duct configuration accommodates top or back vent exit routing, giving the installer flexibility based on your ceiling structure. At 1,100 CFM, confirm duct sizing with your installer before installation — minimum duct diameter for this volume is typically 8" round or equivalent rectangular.
- Snap-Apart E-Z Clean Blower Housing: All four Magic Lung® blower housings snap apart by hand — no tools, no solvents, no filters to replace. Internal components are dishwasher-safe. With four blowers, the E-Z Clean design is especially valuable — cleaning four conventional blower assemblies with tools would be a significant maintenance task.
- Outdoor Approved — GFCI Required: All Vent-A-Hood products are UL listed for damp location use. The EPITH18-460 is approved for covered outdoor patio installation when connected to a GFCI-protected circuit. Not rated for open or uncovered environments.
Island Hood Installation — What to Know Before You Buy

Ceiling Structural Support
Island hoods hang from ceiling joists or blocking. Confirm ceiling structure can support the hood weight at the island location and install blocking before the hood arrives on site.

Duct Sizing for 1,100 CFM
At 1,100 CFM, duct sizing matters. Undersized or excessively long duct runs will reduce performance and increase noise. Have your contractor calculate the duct system before installation — minimum 8" round duct or equivalent rectangular cross-section is typically required at this volume.

Dedicated Electrical Circuit
A 115V dedicated circuit roughed in at the ceiling above the island is required before the hood is installed. Must be completed by a licensed electrician prior to installation day.

Duct Cover — Order Separately
Measure your ceiling height and order the correct matching Vent-A-Hood island duct cover before installation day. Standard covers fit 8', 9', and 10' ceilings; custom sizes available. Contact us to confirm the right cover for your space.
