Vent-A-Hood 66-Inch 1100 CFM Designer Series Island Range Hood - Stainless Steel - JDIH466/C2

Vent-A-Hood 66-Inch 1100 CFM Designer Series Island Range Hood — Stainless Steel — JDIH466/C2

The Vent-A-Hood JDIH466/C2 is a 66-inch island-mounted range hood from the Premier Magic Lung® Designer Series — Vent-A-Hood's most premium island collection. The JDIH/C2 is the C2 configuration of the JDIH concave canopy: a concave body with tapered clipped corners and offset lip styling — an inward-curving form with precisely chamfered and tapered corner geometry and a deliberately asymmetric bottom edge. The C2 configuration offers a slightly different canopy proportion and profile relative to the JDIH/C1 — the same foundational design language expressed with different dimensional relationships, making it suitable for different island scales and ceiling heights. Quad Magic Lung® blowers deliver 1100 CFM of airflow — equivalent to 1800 CFM from conventional systems — with 99% centrifugal grease capture and SensaSource® automatic heat detection. Available in stainless steel, painted, polished brass, polished copper, hammered copper, antiqued copper, and antiqued hammered copper. Island duct cover sold separately for 8', 9', and 10' ceiling heights. Recommended mounting height: 30 inches above the cooking surface. Made in the USA since 1933.

The JDIH/C2 Design — Concave, Tapered Clipped Corners, Offset Lip

The JDIH/C2 shares the same design vocabulary as the JDIH/C1 — concave body, tapered clipped corners, and offset lip — in the C2 canopy proportion. The three design elements work together to create an inward-flowing hood with refined geometric detail at every edge.

Concave Body

Inward-Curving Canopy — Elegant Depth & Crown Effect

The JDIH/C2 canopy curves inward — the face of the hood recedes from the room, creating a graceful, inward-flowing silhouette above the island. From below, the concave underside creates a domed recess that frames the cooking surface beneath. From the side, the inward curve produces an elegant, understated profile. In metal finishes, the concave surface pools light at the center and shadows at the perimeter — an effect unique to this canopy geometry that no flat or convex surface can replicate.

Tapered Clipped Corners

Chamfered & Tapered — Faceted Precision at Every Edge

Each corner of the C2 canopy is diagonally clipped and then tapered toward the bottom edge — creating a precisely faceted transition at every corner. This detail eliminates blunt corners and produces visible edge lines that intersect with the concave body, giving the hood a handcrafted, jeweler's-quality finish from every viewing angle.

Offset Lip

Asymmetric Bottom Edge — Intentional Design Tension

The bottom perimeter of the JDIH/C2 terminates at a non-parallel angle to the ceiling — a deliberate offset that adds asymmetric complexity to the bottom edge. Combined with the inward pull of the concave body and the precision of the tapered clips, the offset lip ensures the C2 reads as designed from every angle and at every distance.

JDIH/C2 vs JDIH/C1 — Sister Configurations of the Same Design Language

JDIH/C1

C1 Canopy Proportion

The C1 configuration of the JDIH concave canopy — same concave body, tapered clipped corners, and offset lip in the C1 dimensional proportion. Contact us to view both configurations side-by-side and determine which scale best suits your island and ceiling height.

JDIH/C2 (This Model)

C2 Canopy Proportion

The C2 configuration expresses the same concave + tapered clipped corner + offset lip design language in a different canopy proportion — offering a distinct scale relationship between the hood body, the duct cover, and the ceiling above. Same pricing as the JDIH/C1. Call us at 888-678-3530 to discuss which configuration suits your specific installation.

What's Included — and What You'll Need to Complete the Installation

Included in the Box

Complete Island Canopy Package

Designer Series C2 concave stainless steel canopy, quad Magic Lung® blower system, LED lighting, SensaSource® heat sensor, 2-speed rocker controls, and ceiling suspension hardware for island mounting.

Sold Separately — Required

Island Duct Cover (Not Included)

A matching Designer Series island duct cover is required. Standard sizes for 8', 9', and 10' ceiling heights; custom sizes available. Duct cover finish must match the hood — contact us to specify both before ordering.

Installer / Contractor Responsibility

Ductwork & Electrical — Not Included

Island installation requires ceiling-routed ductwork and a dedicated 115V circuit by a licensed contractor. At 1,100 CFM, confirm minimum 8" round duct or equivalent with your installer. Outdoor patio installations require a GFCI-protected circuit.

Key Features & Owner Benefits:

  • Concave Body with Tapered Clipped Corners and Offset Lip — JDIH/C2: The C2 configuration of Vent-A-Hood's JDIH concave canopy — an inward-curving form with precisely tapered clipped corners at every edge and a deliberately asymmetric offset bottom lip. The concave body creates a crown-like effect above the island: elegant, architecturally refined, and understated in its confidence.
  • Quad Magic Lung® Blower System — 1100 CFM: 4 independent 275 CFM Magic Lung® centrifugal blowers combine for 1100 CFM total — equivalent to 1800 CFM from conventional systems. 99% grease capture through centrifugal extraction — no filters to clean or replace. Snap-apart E-Z Clean housing opens by hand, dishwasher-safe.
  • Widest Finish Range in the Vent-A-Hood Island Lineup: Seven finishes — stainless steel, painted (standard or custom colors), polished brass, polished copper, hammered copper, antiqued copper, and antiqued hammered copper. The concave canopy is exceptional in polished and antiqued copper finishes, where the inward curve pools light at center and shadows the perimeter. Contact us for non-stainless finish availability and lead times.
  • SensaSource® Automatic Speed Control: Integrated heat sensor automatically returns the blower to high speed when cooking heat is detected — no manual adjustment needed to maintain grease capture throughout the session.
  • Island Ceiling Mount — 66-Inch Coverage: Ceiling-suspended, no wall attachment. The 66-inch canopy provides full coverage over a 66-inch island cooktop or grill. Requires ceiling structural support and pre-routed ductwork before installation day.
  • Outdoor Approved — GFCI Required: UL listed for damp location use. Approved for covered outdoor patio installation when connected to a GFCI-protected circuit.

Island Hood Installation — What to Know Before You Buy

01

Ceiling Structural Support

Confirm ceiling structure can support the hood weight at the island location and install blocking before the hood arrives on site.

02

Ceiling Duct Penetration

A duct penetration through the ceiling must be cut, lined, and routed to the exterior or attic before the hood is installed. Pre-plan the full duct path before installation day.

03

Dedicated Electrical Circuit

A 115V dedicated circuit roughed in at the ceiling above the island must be completed by a licensed electrician before installation.

04

Duct Cover & Finish Match — Order Separately

Designer Series duct cover must match the hood finish. Standard sizes fit 8', 9', and 10' ceilings; custom sizes available. Contact us to specify both before ordering.

05

Mounting Height

Bottom of canopy mounts 30 inches above the cooking surface. Confirm this works with your ceiling height and duct cover selection before ordering.
